Navigating Life’s Rough Seas: ~Celebrating 100 Mindful Moments Together!!🥳

Life is about growing, learning, and evolving. That’s the perspective I embrace—why? (You know me, it always comes back to why!) Because life isn’t easy. Not by a long shot.

Think about it—every single day has its hurdles. Maybe you realize too late that your gas tank is on ‘E’ as you’re already late for an appointment. A looming deadline has you stretched thin. A snide comment from a colleague hits you in the gut because you are already feeling down. And that’s just in 24 hours!

Then there are the big things: losing a job, facing a serious diagnosis, getting that tearful call from your child 1,500 miles away, navigating a divorce, or losing a parent. These moments shake us. And yet, they are part of the human experience. They also shape, strengthen, and remind us of what we’re capable of.

I heard this quote recently, and it struck a deep chord:

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”

— Franklin D. Roosevelt”

Good news, bad news:

When everything is easy, we don’t have to stretch ourselves. But when the waves get choppy, that’s when we grow. If you believe in yourself, you can navigate those storms. True leadership—true resilience—is forged in difficulty. In the moments of challenge, we find out who we are.

I tend to do hard things—the ones that scare the sh*t out of me. Like when I hiked the Colorado Trail solo 2 ½ years ago. I was terrified. It was my biggest fear, and that’s precisely why I did it. And because I faced that fear head-on, I no longer feel the same fear (okay, maybe a little—but I’m embarking on another 160-mile journey this summer, and solo hiking is definitely on the agenda!).

Rough seas make better sailors.

Better leaders.

Better human beings.

When we learn to navigate challenges, we build a strength that no easy road can provide. And here’s the thing—we’re facing difficult times right now. They might get harder before they get better. But what if that’s actually a good thing?

If we shift our mindset and approach challenges from a place of conscious choice rather than fear, we reclaim our energy and power. If we dread the challenge, we slip into victimhood. But if we ask,

What’s the opportunity here?—we step into growth and transformation.

So here’s my invitation to you: Let’s face the rough seas together.

Let’s look for solutions instead of dwelling on what’s wrong. Let’s embrace the journey, with all its twists and turns, because that makes us who we are.

And to you, my incredible community—thank you for being part of these 100 Mindful Moments. Your presence, insights, and willingness to reflect alongside me mean more than words can say.

Here’s to the next 100!
